Patrick Mullins
Patrick’s career as an investment advisor in the financial services industry began in 1988 at the Ottawa offices of Richardson Greenshields. By 1996, when Richardson Greenshields was purchased by the Royal Bank of Canada and became part of RBC Dominion Securities, Patrick was a Vice President and Officer of the company.
During his tenure with RBC Dominion securities, Patrick completed the requirements for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, recognized as the world-wide Gold Standard in the financial services industry. As well, he completed the requirements necessary to become a discretionary portfolio manager.
“We really started to change the way we worked with our clients at this point. It was clear to me that our families required a more sophisticated solution as their personal financial situations became more complex. Fortunately, we were in a position to supply that solution, and we began focusing exclusively on family wealth management.”
In 2000, Patrick and his team joined TD Evergreen and established a Kanata branch for the company. As a Vice President in the private client division of TD Bank, Patrick provided tailored solutions to high net-worth clients in Ottawa.
By 2006, he had established a practice tailored specifically for entrepreneurs, senior managers and their families. The unique solution differentiated the team from their partners at TD Bank so Mullins Capital Management was established to provide clarity about the offering. MCM focuses on helping successful entrepreneurs create wealth outside of their businesses.
In 2007, Patrick moved Mullins Capital Management to Richardson Partners Financial Limited, now Richardson GMP Limited, a return to working with the family where he began his financial career.
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University and a Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. With his team at Mullins Capital Management and also through the Rita Mullins Foundation, Patrick contributes to several charitable organizations, both in Canada and abroad. He is an avid sportsman with diminishing skill.
